The Confidentiality
In order to ensure the confidentiality, CARTaGENE has put in place rigourous security measures.
  • Personal information will be replaced by codes, and the data and samples will be protected by rigorous security measures. Confidentiality is therefore ensured. Neither the participant, nor insurance providers, nor employers, nor any other third party (other than researchers authorized by CARTaGENE) will have access to the research data and samples. CARTaGENE will not retain the personal information of participants, only the codes.
  • Data will be stored in the CARTaGENE databank at Université de Montréal. Blood and urine samples will be stored in the Biobank Genome Québec and Centre Hospitalier affilié universitaire régional de Chicoutimi using state-of-the art sample management and security measures. The samples will be stored for 50 years, unless decided otherwise by a research ethics board (REB). Only researchers with projects that have been ethically and scientifically approved and that have received autorization by the Access Commitee of CARTaGENE could be granted access to the CARTaGENE data and samples.
